In the light of the ongoing preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19, and following recommendations or decisions of local governments, our operations are currently impacted as followed:
- In Vietnam, our students have not returned to the centre since Têt holidays in late January. Our teams work remotely and public schools and buildings remain closed until further notice. Teams try to provide the best support possible, including some exercises for our students staying at home.
- In Cambodia, our centre has been closed on government recommendation since Sunday, March 15th and we sent our students into early Khmer New Year holidays until further notice. PNC staff work remotely and students have been given “homework” for the coming weeks.
- In the Philippines, Cebu was similarly ordered to enter community quarantine and the University of San Carlos, our Academic partner, announced the suspension of all classes until the Easter holidays in mid-April. The internships of 2nd and 3rd-year students have also been interrupted. Most of our students returned in their families, but 60 of them couldn’t as the whole Cebu province is in quarantine. Six members of our team stay with them at the boarding house, and therefore accompany them on a daily basis. The rest of the team is working remotely and is following up the students who went back home.
- Our coordination teams in France and in Asia are working remotely, and all travels are suspended until further notice.
Our priority is to protect the safety and well-being of our students, staff, volunteers and the wider community.
All our teams are strongly monitoring the situation and are mobilized to mitigate the impacts of these closures on our programs and on our students and ensure as much as possible academic continuity.
As the situation changes day by day, we will keep you informed about any further development.
